     The Montessori Early Childhood Overview Course is designed to orient the adult learner entering the infant and toddler or the elementary teacher education programs to the Montessori early childhood classroom.

 

Topics:

Montessori Philosophy - the Nature of the Child,

the Role of the Adult, and the Prepared Environment

Prepared Environment – Health and Safety Issues,

Clean, Orderly and Complete Environment

Nature of the Child – Sensitive Period for Order Requires

Ground Rules, Respectful Group Time and Orderly Transitions.

Need for Movement Requires Support for Purposeful Movement.

Role of the Adult – Observe and Overview the Classroom,

Prepare the Environment to Meet the Needs of the Child.

Relationship to the Community – Confidentiality, Professionalism,

Communication with the Family.
